Marble and granite exploited from quarries in Da Nang, Nghe An and Yen Bai are the main materials. Those sedimentary rock blocks aged thousands of years are brought to Thanh Dong; with the hands of craftsmen, they become artistic work. The patterns and vignettes on each statue are so live as if they carry the vitality of the creators. With the hammers and chisels, the Vietnamese craftsmen have created artistic work such as: Bodhisattva Kwan Yin, State of Mitreya, portrait of national heroes, plus the statues of animals as elephant, lion, eagle, etc. |
